South Florida was selected by Delegates to the 2011 NTEU National Convention, Seattle WA with 57% of the vote over Detroit. The first roll call vote was conducted with Detroit, Minneapolis, San Diego, and South Florida having been nominated. When none of the four locations received a majority of the votes on the first roll call vote, a second roll call vote was conducted in accordance with the NTEU Constitution. (Minneapolis was dropped in the second roll call vote since it did not receive more than 20% of the votes in the first roll call vote.) Since no location received a majority of the votes cast in the second roll call vote, a third roll call vote was required. (San Diego was eliminated since it did not receive 33% of the votes in the second roll call vote.)
