RE: 2006 Legislative Conference Registration

SUMMARY: The 2006 NTEU Legislative Conference will take place Monday, February 27th through Thursday, March 2nd. Registration will be open on the afternoon of February 27th and the morning of February 28th.

As the end of 2005 quickly approaches, I would like to remind you to look ahead and mark your calendars with the dates of NTEU’s 2006 Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. The 2006 Legislative Conference will begin with a training on Monday afternoon, February 27 and end on Thursday, March 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel at 480 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., in Washington, DC. Please note that this is the same location as the 2005 Legislative Conference, although the hotel is no longer a Loew’s. The opening session will begin on February 28, 2006, at 9:00 a.m.

Guest room rates will be $183 for a Standard single or double occupancy and $203 for a King single or double occupancy room. The current guest room sales tax in the District of Columbia is 14.5%, per room, per night. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-635-5065 or 202-484-1000, ext. 5000. Please tell the reservations clerk you are with the NTEU Legislative Conference to ensure that you receive our special rate. Reservations for the NTEU room block and price must be made before January 26, 2006.   If you do not book your hotel room before January 26, we cannot guarantee space or the special room rate.

Along with reserving your hotel room, please make sure to complete the attached registration form and send it back to the NTEU headquarters, attention Mary Woodruff, along with your $25 registration fee. Registration forms will not be processed without your $25 registration fee. Forms can be faxed to Mary at 202-572-5642, and checks should be mailed to NTEU, 1750 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20006. Please make sure to return your registration forms and checks to NTEU by February 6, 2006.

If you have any questions regarding your registration, the hotel, or about the conference, please contact our Grassroots Director, Jamie Linski, at 202-572-5500 x7039, or Jamie.linski@nteu.org. As the conference nears we will be sending out a draft agenda and other helpful information.

Thank you very much for your attention to these details. I look forward to seeing you all in February for what I expect to be another successful and productive legislative conference.
